About Taiko
Taiko is Ethereum's first Based Rollup project. We're scaling Ethereum through a based rollup architecture and pioneering innovations like Layer 2 preconfirmations. Our mission is to deliver Ethereum's security and decentralization in a scalable, developer-friendly rollup — without compromise.
Role Overview
We are hiring a Senior Reth Developer to lead the integration and advancement of the Reth (Rust-based Ethereum) client for Taiko. You will adapt Reth into the canonical execution engine for Taiko’s Layer 2 node and optimize it for high-performance, rollup-specific use cases.
Responsibilities
- Extend and maintain Taiko’s Reth fork
taiko-reth
to meet execution layer needs. - Profile and optimize
taiko-reth
for rollup workloads: fast sync, high-throughput ingestion, archive access, and block production. - Refactor and modularize Reth crates for reuse across Taiko node components.
- Ensure full compliance with Ethereum standards including Engine API, JSON-RPC, and upcoming EIPs.
- Develop robust testing, simulation, and fuzzing infrastructure for critical execution paths.
- Collaborate with Taiko protocol, infra, and ZK teams to ensure seamless integration across the stack.
- Contribute to code reviews, performance audits, and open-source engagement.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in systems programming, with strong command of Rust.
- Deep understanding of Ethereum execution layer internals: block processing, mempool, and state transitions.
- Prior experience working on or contributing to Reth or other high-performance Ethereum clients.
- Skilled in profiling, performance tuning (
perf
,flamegraph
), and memory-efficient Rust design. - Capable of writing clean, testable, async-first Rust code.
- Comfortable with open-source workflows and GitHub collaboration.
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
- Bonus: experience with rollup architectures, ZK systems, blob handling (EIP-4844), or MEV infra.
What We Offer
- Work on one of Ethereum’s most technically ambitious L2s — making it more secure, permissionless, and decentralized.
- Join a high-caliber, globally distributed team focused on open-source and Ethereum-aligned principles.
- Enjoy a fully remote and async-first work culture.
- Competitive compensation with strong token upside potential.
