About Taiko
Taiko is Ethereum's first Based Rollup project. We're scaling Ethereum using a based rollup architecture and pioneering innovations like L2 preconfirmation. Our mission is to bring Ethereum’s security and decentralization to a scalable, developer-friendly rollup—without compromise.
Role Overview
We’re hiring a Senior Protocol Researcher to lead applied research and protocol design for Taiko’s based rollup and L2 preconfirmation. You’ll work at the frontier of Ethereum scaling, collaborate with core engineers, and contribute directly to the Ethereum ecosystem through EIPs and open research.
Responsibilities
- Research and design protocols for based rollup sequencing and L2 preconfirmation.
- Investigate MEV mitigation and proposer-builder separation (PBS) in the L2 context.
- Collaborate with the Alethia engineering team to turn research into specifications and implementations.
- Contribute to Ethereum standards (e.g., via EIPs or open research discussions).
- Stay up to date with Ethereum and rollup research; apply relevant ideas to improve Taiko.
- Clearly document and communicate technical work internally and externally.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in blockchain protocol research or systems engineering.
- Strong understanding of Ethereum architecture, rollup design, MEV, and L2 protocols.
- Prior contributions to Ethereum protocols or EIPs strongly preferred.
- Ability to prototype and evolve ideas into production-grade specs.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across research and engineering.
What We Offer
- Join the core R&D team of a leading Ethereum L2 project.
- Work on high-impact problems with a world-class team.
- Fully remote role with flexible hours.
- Direct collaboration with Taiko’s CEO and protocol leadership.
- TAIKO token grants available as part of total compensation.
